Academic Calendar
Waseda students may enroll in one or more of the following ESL courses with other international students to help them gain important skills.

Fall Semester: late August - mid December (on campus)
ESL 230 Advanced Speaking and Listening (4 semester hours)
ESL 235 Advanced Reading and Writing (4 semester hours)

Spring Semester: mid January - mid May (on campus)
ESL 242 U.S. Culture  through Film (4 semester hours)

Beloit was founded in 1846 and from the beginning has been recognized for curricular innovation and a commitment to international education. Beloit offers a variety of special academic programs to students in the Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, including languages and ESL courses to gain important academic and English language skills

Community and Volunteer Opportunities
Beloit has a variety of activities focused on getting students involved in the community. At Beloit, students can help build houses for Habitat for Humanity, work at local food banks, and tutor children from local schools.http://www.beloit.edu/facs/students_community_services.php

Work-study Options
Colleges often hire students to work in campus offices. Options are somewhat limited for exchange students. International students may be able to work as paid language tutors.

Host Stay Programs
Waseda students live in college residence halls. The Beloit Host Family Program matches international students with American families in the Beloit area, who are there to help students adjust to life in the U.S. Students are assigned a host family and will meet them at a picnic during the international student orientation.
