Off-campus Opportunities
Waseda students can participate in two off-campus programs. Students interested in these programs should contact the Japan Study office at Waseda to confirm the availability of spaces.

Quick Start Language Programs designed to introduce students to a new language. This innovative program combines classroom study in grammar and culture with short periods of intensive study abroad. Knox offers Quick Start programs in French, German and Spanish, though not every language is offered in a Quick Start format every year. (Please note: off-campus courses may have additional fees.)

Green Oaks Term, a residential interdisciplinary off-campus program at Green Oaks, Knox's 760-acre field station. The program involves a small group of students with majors in the sciences, social sciences and humanities in the exploration of ecological, cultural and historical, and aesthetic qualities of the landscape. Staffed by three faculty from Anthropology and Sociology, Biology and English/Creative Writing, students have an intensive, 10-week experience, including sharing responsibility for cooking, cleaning and the stewardship of the field station. The College offers the Green Oaks Term every second or third year. Students participating in the program receive 3.5 credits.

Knox Host Family Program is designed to help international students cope with their new environment, and attain some level of comfort and to introduce students to the broader aspects of American life. The Program also gives interested members of the Galesburg community a chance to meet and learn about students from different cultures.
