Campus Highlights
Oberlin College, founded in 1833, is an independent coeducational
institution, holds a distinguished place among American colleges
and universities. It comprises two divisions, the College of Arts
and Sciences, with about 2,400 students, and the Conservatory of
Music, with about 600 enrolled. Oberlin was the first college to
grant undergraduate degrees to women and historically was a leader
in the educating of blacks; its heritage is one of respect for the

Off-campus Opportunities
"Oberlin provides many special programs to enable students
to pursue their own interests. Students use the winter term (spanning
the four weeks of January) to study a subject intensively or explore
something new. Winter term projects can be undertaken on-campus
or off. Some students serve internships -- set up with the help
of the Office of Career Services, the Center for Service and Learning,
alumni, or faculty members--to gain valuable work experience or
learn about a new field."
